KATHERINE VENEMAN
Curator of Education, Blaffer Art Museum
Katherine Veneman is curator of education at Blaffer Art Museum and has overseen the museum’s nationally recognized educational program since 2004. Veneman manages public and educational initiatives, as well as academic programs and guided tours for adults, university students, and youth. She was awarded a 2024 UH President’s Award of Excellence.
Veneman currently teaches in Arts Leadership at the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts at UH. She maintains a studio practice in painting. Previously, she was the Director of Hera Gallery and Hera Educational Foundation, a nonprofit artist space in Wakefield, Rhode Island. She has exhibited her work on the East Coast and in Houston.
Veneman holds an M.F.A. in painting from American University in Washington, D.C., and received her B.A., summa cum laude, from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. She is a native of the Washington, D.C. area.
