JUSTINE TOWNSEND

Adjunct Faculty, Financial Management for Arts

Justine Townsend leads the Arts & Culture Specialization at Your Part-Time Controller, LLC (YPTC), the nation's largest nonprofit-focused financial management firm, where she and her team of specialists provide accounting, controller, and CFO services exclusively to arts and cultural organizations across the country. Justine has spent nearly 20 years on a singular mission: saving all the arts, everywhere, forever, through sound financial management. She has lived that mission from every seat at the table, as a consultant, CFO, controller, auditor, board member, volunteer, and more for nonprofit organizations, giving her a rare, in-depth understanding of the financial pressures and possibilities arts and culture organizations face every day. She teaches Financial Management for the Arts in the University of Houston's Master of Arts Leadership program because she believes the next generation of arts executives needs more than textbook theory. They deserve the real, hard-won financial judgment that comes from understanding what they need to know and when to be able to make the tough calls that will keep their mission-driven organizations solvent and the arts alive! Justine brings urgency and passion into every class to equip future arts leaders with financial fluency and confidence to protect and grow the organizations they will one day lead.
