JESSICA FERRARONE

Head of Summer MA for Theatre Educators
Jessica Ferrarone is the Program Head for the Summer M.A. for Theatre Educators and an Assistant Instructional Professor of Acting at the University of Houston. She earned her B.F.A. in Acting from the North Carolina School of the Arts and continued her training at the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York City.
Some of her most memorable stage experiences include Trojan Women under the direction of Gerald Freedman, Summer and Smoke at the Roundabout Theatre, and the premiere of Lyle Kessler’s Robbers at American Place Theatre, directed by Marshall Mason. Her on-screen work includes recurring roles on NYPD Blue and General Hospital, as well as guest appearances on CSI: Miami, Boston Public, and other television shows.
A dedicated advocate for theatre education in elementary and secondary schools, Ms. Ferrarone spent a decade teaching students in grades 6 through 12. During that time, her students advanced twice to the State level in the University Interscholastic League’s One Act Play Contest. She earned her M.A. through the University of Houston’s Summer M.A. Program for Theatre Educators and her M.F.A. in Theatre Pedagogy from the University of Idaho. She is proud to support the advancement of theatre educators and the vital work they do.
Ms. Ferrarone studied the Sanford Meisner Technique with master teacher Nicholas Martin. Her additional training includes modern realism with K. Todd Freeman and Caroline Neff at Steppenwolf Theatre, Shakespeare with Jed Diamond and Tarell McCraney at The Public Theater, devising with Third Rail Projects, and puppetry with Tom Lee.
