Ja’Yanna’s love for acting began when she discovered a strong desire for self-expression as a child. As she grew, she developed an appreciation for vulnerability and what it means to truly embody a character and move an audience. She received her B.F.A. in Acting from the University of Houston, earning certifications in single sword and unarmed combat, expanding her versatility in Shakespeare and Musical Theatre, and, more recently, discovering an interest in directing. Her favorite roles at UH include Lottie in By The Way, Meet Vera Stark and Fefu in Fefu and Her Friends—both women with a strong sense of self and opinion. In every room, she demonstrates what it means to be a selfless scene partner, friend, and teammate.
