CAROLYN

RICHARDS

Get to Know Carolyn

A native Houstonian and recent graduate of the University of Houston’s B.F.A. Acting program, Carolyn Richards brings a keen sense of humor and an open heart to every room she enters. While the stage continues to be her favorite place to play, Carolyn relishes each opportunity she gets - from voicing a quirky character to representing plus-sized women in a positive, empowering way on-screen. New work and period pieces are her forte, though she also harbors a love for experimental and concept-based musical theatre. When she’s not performing, you can find Carolyn writing (poetry, plays, fanfiction) and doing what she affectionately calls ‘clowning with crayons’ - turning children’s coloring pages and other materials into relatably dark, often satirical jokes

“Carolyn is a delight! Generative, hard-working and hilarious. I always knew I could depend on her to anchor our Ocean Ensemble: she takes responsibility, makes choices, and shines bright. I loved working with her and can't wait to see what she does next!”
Katie Pearl, Co-Artistic Director, PearlDamour (New Orleans, LA / Brooklyn, NY)
“Above all things, Carolyn Richards brings joy to her work. Her spirited focus on the role and the process brings a professionalism that is only matched by her talent. What fun it was to work with her.”
Brandon Weinbrenner, Associate Producer and Casting Director, Alley Theatre (Houston, TX)
"Carolyn is diligent, meticulous and smart. She has risen to each new challenge in the program, and whether she's cracking jokes or throwing punches, she brings a laser-like focus and a sharp wit to bear on the work."
Adam Noble, Head of M.F.A. Acting, University of Houston (Houston, TX)
