CAROLINE DOCWRA
Caroline is a photographer, curator, and writer with a great passion for working with Houston’s communities and championing the healing potential of the arts. She holds a Master’s in Arts Leadership and a Bachelor’s in Biology and Art History from the University of Houston. She has worked with various organizations including Houston Arts Alliance, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Fort Bend Theatre, Houston Center for Photography and the Children’s Museum of Houston.
Caroline currently works with the Center for Performing Arts Medicine at Houston Methodist as the Patient Project Specialist managing non-clinical arts-based programs for patients like Artists-in-Residence and various Art Cart programs led by volunteers. Previously, Caroline worked to develop and grow CPAM’s Visual Arts integration programs for employees, visitors and patients. During this time, she built visual art programs from the ground up utilizing her past experiences, research, and learned best practices from the arts and health field. This work includes expanding art classes and experiences for employees and art installations throughout the eight Houston Methodist campuses across Houston. Her research interests includes arts as preventative measure for health for aging populations and the impact of arts practices for nursing teams.
Before Center for Performing Arts Medicine, Caroline worked at Houston Arts Alliance as Grants Manager and also at Houston Center for Photography in Exhibitions and Programming and co-editor of spot Magazine before becoming the Director of Operations.
