Art is never static—it evolves, inspires, and propels us forward.
Arts in Motion celebrates the transformative power of creativity: its ability to shape culture, spark innovation, and move the world in new directions. From brushstrokes that tell untold stories to performances that stir the soul, art is a living force—shifting, adapting, and redefining the future.
As the University of Houston nears its centennial, we also mark a decade of impact for the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts. In ten years, the College has become a powerful engine of creative expression and cultural leadership.
Join us for an evening that honors the visionaries who push the boundaries of art—and a College that proves just how far creativity in motion can take us.
When art moves, it moves us all.

Through the Moving Press: An Exhibition and Print Sale
Through the Moving Press embraces printmaking as an art form in motion—dynamic, collaborative, and alive with possibility. Opening March 26, 2026, during the Arts in Motion Gala, the exhibition brings together selected works by School of Art students, alumni, and faculty, curated by MFA Candidate, Jai España, and presented at the POST. The exhibition will remain on view for one week following the Gala, inviting the public into a space.
Printmaking is an act of transformation: image becomes impression, idea becomes multiple, movement becomes mark. In Through the Moving Press, artists create limited-edition prints that reflect this spirit of evolution—works shaped by motion, intention, and the shared energy of the press. Selected artists will donate prints from their editions, which will be offered for sale during the Gala, with proceeds directly benefiting student scholarships.
On the evening of the Gala, the exhibition comes to life through live printmaking demonstrations. Professor Patrick Masterson will activate the press in real time, producing exclusive, one-of-a-kind shirts printed on-site. These shirts are generously donated by Mar Jac Creations, transforming the act of printing into a shared, celebratory experience—where art is made in the moment and movement becomes tangible.
Presented in conjunction with the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts' Arts in Motion Gala, Through the Moving Press marks a pivotal moment—celebrating ten years of the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts while helping launch the University of Houston Centennial Campaign. As the University of Houston approaches its 100th anniversary, the exhibition honors the artists and educators who push ideas forward, reminding us that when art is set in motion, its impact extends far beyond the page.
When art moves, it moves us all.
